Keeping applications up to date should be essential for any PC user looking to get the latest features and improvements from their frequently used and trustworthy programs. However, it becomes a tiresome and time-consuming task to manually launch each app and check for updates, especially if you want to be thorough and do this on a daily basis.
Monitors the newest releases for software updates
SUMo is a lightweight application that aims to spare you this effort by automatically finding the newest releases for your installed programs. Wrapped in a clean and intuitive interface, the tool caters to all types of users. However, it cannot automatically update software on your behalf.
Following a speedy setup operation that shouldn't give you any trouble, SUMo offers to autodetect installed software on your PC, loading useful information such as product name, company current version, and update status. Programs that are up to date receive a green tick while outdated products are accompanied by a red icon. Also, SUMo sets apart minor from major updates.
Update apps from each developer's website or SUMo's library
Next, you can study the list and settle on the applications you wish to update. This can be done in two methods: by visiting SUMo's website (if the product exists in its library) or by going straight to the source on the product's website. The second method might be a bit difficult compared to the first once, since each developer has its own style of providing software releases, but it's faster than waiting for SUMo to update its online collection.
As far as additional options are concerned, you can check out different programs made by the same developer on SUMo's online library, skip checkups on certain updates you're not interested in, report errors or non-stable (beta) releases to contribute to SUMo's reliability, save the list of all updates and compare it later with a new list, as well as create and manage a list of ignored apps.
Intuitive software updater with rich settings
From the settings panel, you can ask SUMo to autorun every time you turn on your PC and to scan for software updates, minimize to the systray instead of the taskbar, allow beta versions to pass update scans, disable registry scanning, and put together a list of additional folders with programs to include in scans.
Taking into account its clear-cut interface and intuitive options, SUMo comes to the aid of anyone who wants to easily monitor their software installations to get the newest updates as quickly as possible. There's also an edition with identical features that requires no installation, called Portable SUMo.
