Control PCs over the internet or a local area connection.
Getting control over another computer in your network is not at all a difficult task, especially when you've got the up-to-task program at hand. It's called remote computing and it proves useful for a wide range of activities, from conferences and helpdesk sessions to plain monitoring or file transfering.
Remote-Anything is just the kind of application you need in order to watch the activity on multiple computers, to start chat sessions and to remotely reboot or lock workstations in your network. It doesn't require installation and consists mainly of a master instance that needs to be run on your computer and a slave module, which should be deployed on the workstations you wish to monitor and control.
There's not much to say about its interface, because the application is bent on functionality rather than looks. The main window encases buttons and shortcuts to all of its functions, sparing you the effort of exploring complicated and tricky menus. From here, you can manually add network computers based on their IP and MAC address, but the application also has the capability to detect all the stations that are running the slave instance, and will display all of them in a list, from where you can select each one individually and perform various actions.
The operations you can carry out include traceroute, file transfer, viewing the screen of the remote computers, ping, hardware inventory, log off and wake-on-lan sessions. The most obvious advantage is that you can perform separate actions on different computers, which enables you to multi task your remote session. This allows for a multitude of activities, such as user assistance and helpdesk and even teaching tasks.
The truth is that Remote-Anything is less complicated to work with compared to other remote computing solutions. It doesn't require installation and it all comes down to running a couple of services. With its flawless slave detection algorithm, identifying the remote computers you want to watch in real time is a piece of cake and the various operations you can perform on a work station you have no physical access to recommend it as a decent remote solution.
