Bluetooth Clients Apps and Alternatives

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard that supports data transfers over short distances. Similarly to Wi-Fi, the transfer technology can be employed to exchange various files and operate electronics, such as headphones, for instance. 

In order to be able to enjoy the benefits of Bluetooth onto desktop computers, users will need to connect a Bluetooth dongle.

Bluetooth clients offer users the possibility to lock their workstations whenever they leave the computer (actually, when the connected Bluetooth-enabled cell phone is not detected within range) automatically.

Other uses for this type of applications include sending files from the PC to any Bluetooth device or turning one's cell phone into a remote control for the computer.

Despite the fact that it is bulkier than Wi-Fi, it is worth mentioning that Bluetooth is not always broadcasting and hence, devices are not always visible. In fact, the only time they can be detected is when you are doing the pairing.
