A check-writing software application with support for printing functions, company details editing, print position adjustments, and others
CheckWriter enables users to write down check information to print, and includes a few useful functions. It does not put an emphasis on intuitiveness, so it is recommended to use the help documentation at startup.
At every initialization, you are required to enter a one-time passphrase that will be used to create an MD5 checksum. With this signature you can verify if a check was actually printed using this program.
The interface is made from a common window with neatly-organized options. CheckWriter clearly needs major improvements in the visual department, but we must keep in mind that it has not been updated for a long time.
The first startup shows an example with a database of transactions. You can edit check, deposit and withdrawal records, bank charges, amounts, dates and ID numbers.
It is possible to add as many deposit and withdrawal lines as you want, calculate the balance, copy highlighted entries, use a calendar, edit and print the form draft, enter company details, and include memos.
The application is light on the system resources, running on a very low quantity of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and doesn't cause the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Unfortunately, CheckWriter is not only pretty difficult to work with but also comprises limited features (unlike Cheque Printing Software, for instance).
